I Registered TGMC 2010

Hello friends in this post i want to share my experience of the great mind challenge 2010 which was organised by the IBM .
This contest is all about the project development. It is very helpful for engineering students.i am studying B.Tech final year,as i have to submit the academic project, i will submit the same project which i will develop in TGMC..
Its very strang thing that the same project for academic and also for the contest. 
I suggest you too go to the IBM's TGMC website and register.you will also get the participation certificate..it worth's more..
.they will also provide you the software , and more materials..
Its free..all you need is good team of members between 2-4 and with a faculty to guide you.
All the development and submission process takes place throw online...

I will inform you more about this..as i was just get started...!!

    for this TGMC contest we have to use ibm tools as much as possible..i suggest you to the java platform. and back end with DB2....use AJAX for the best communication with server....

    Their will be no acknowledgement for the group registration.....but you can very it by login your account......

    just goto https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperwork and login with your account....

    then goto--> groups-->mygroups-->

    in the above you can find your team name displayed...just click on it..

    in the next page you will find a window at right side called members window.... in that members window you will find your team members names....

    thats it...!

    if you do not find your team name at groups-->my groups means you have not yet created the group....for that just go to groups->.mygroups-->create a new group-->

    and just follow the instructions....

    They neglected my own topic and they are asking to choose a topic from their list. can I choose the topic from their list and apply my own concepts. Relpy me soon

    yes.. you can apply your own models and concepts.as well as the features as your desire...but your project should meet with at least 8 of the specifications given in the project scenario. .. all the best..!

    firstly download all the project scenarios from the list and select your project topic..

    after selecting the topic..check out the functional requirements..their may be the list of specifications which up to 11-12 points..you may ignore some..and you have to make the project with at least meeting 8 points of functional requirements...

    select which technologies you prefer to use..if you are not perfect in that learn the technologies...i suggest you to use DB2 as back end and java as front end..

    design the UMl diagrams with the functional requirements you are prefering to do..

    use the IBM tools as much as possible in entire development process...that means use as much IBM softwares as possible...

    the DB2 is the IBM's mainframes subject.the DB2 consist of Relational database..i suggest you to take the tutorials..,of course we can learn through internet..,

    virtual medical home is very nice topic..you can add the additional functional requirements.,but you have to meet their given functional requirements at least 7or8. you can not ignore/neglect all of the requirements specified by them completely...

    ..making the project with the customers requirements is the procedure of software project...is n't it?

    the scenario will be sent to the verification.it is the process of design phase verification. this takes up to 1 to 2 weeks.after that you will get the email about the confirmation or if any errors in your scenario they will inform in mail so that you can correct it..
    i to sent scenario last month they have replied the confirmation email after a week with verification of my scenario..
    so ..wait for their email..they will definitely send you after verification..i suggest you, till then be perfect with technologies and start coding.....all the best..!

    their are many institutes in Chennai which guides for the software projects..choose the best one among them and join the institute for the completion of project..or if you have any friends/relatives who are working at IBM or any other mainframes based companies go and approach them..they will definitely helps you....
    my best suggestion is..DB2 is not much difficult..and for the completion of the TGMC you not need complete command with technologies..with the minimum knowledge and guides we can finish it greatly....

    the TGMC will send the software kits for every college.ask your college authority and collect the software kit of IBM's TGMC 2010. you find every thing which you need for the project.
    If your college does not get yet, then request your department head to send an email requesting the software kits to the ibmtgmc@kestone.in and they will send to your college for the mentioned address as in mail.

    You can also download almost every software and its user tutorials with myDeveloperWorks..

    SRS is just the collection of the functional requirement which you are using for hte project and some sort of uml diagrams like usecase diagrams,data flow diagrams,sequencial diagrams etc.,..so you can prepare an effective SRS with in a week...
    for the TGMC project you have to follow the SRS format which they have specified..
    such as the SRS should be in PDF format..

    1.1 Purpose
    1.2 Scope
    1.3 Definition, Acronyms, and Abbreviations
    1.4 References
    1.5 Technologies to be used
    1.6 Overview

    reffer the google maps code which is the open source..for your smart city navigation...you can also give the registration of GPS feature in the smart city...use the labs.google for the sms channels models like SMS alerts for city news,
    market daily rates...make the project with can be changed by user in their local language....

    Using the UML tools in any software process is must..,regarding the TGMC project you must use the IBM's UML tool.,in build linux UML tools such as Umbrello UML Modeller..etc, my also used but the IBM tools (Rational Unified Modeling Language)are prefered one.

    the best way to get started is with learning the basic Object Oriented Analysis & Design(UML) and design the data flow diagrams in the paper and also usecase diagram,class diagram,sequential diagrams..include all the functional requirements in sequential diagrams..this papers works as blue print while designing with software tool....the designing uml is easy task..just refer the text book Meilir page-jones: Fundamentals of Object Oriented Design in UML, Pearson Education.

    i have drawn all uml diagrams manually using powerpoint and havent used any tool...
    does this effect me in any way..
    i have basic knowledge of uml but my guide has suggested me better draw it manually than using tools...what should i do know..?

    using the uml tool is must in any software process...power point is only used for the project presentation....you design the same blue print diagrams in the uml software tool....if you present the ppt diagrams in the TGMC project SRS their is a chance of project rejection...so...do not take risk....if u want to do manually..consult the TGMC team and take their advice..     Actually I want to make project on the topic Blood donatio but this topic is not given in the TGMC project scenario.
